Rohnert Park 2025 Water Rate Study Report
Water rates are reviewed every 3–5 years to ensure safe, reliable service and to maintain the City’s water system. Since the last study in 2021, costs have risen faster than expected due to inflation, rising wholesale water costs, and the need for major infrastructure projects. Sonoma Water costs, for example, have nearly doubled since 2020. In addition, upcoming capital investments are needed to replace aging pipes, upgrade wells and tanks, and modernize customer meters.
The City has applied for a capital grant from FEMA for Well Tank Site Improvements (approximately $8 million). If awarded, rates will be reviewed to determine if water rates can be reduced.

The Rohnert Park City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber (130 Avram Avenue) to consider adopting the new rates and to hear public comments. For instructions on how to submit written comments, written protests, or written objections please refer to the Prop 218 Notice.
