Update: 11/7/35:
We regret to share that the City of Rohnert Park’s Veterans Day event has been canceled for this year. A combination of the ongoing federal government shutdown, which required the Color Guard to withdraw from the event; and unforeseen personal challenges with our event partner has prevented us from being able to present the event in the way our veterans and community both expect and deserve.
We believe that doing an event halfway would not do justice to the importance of the day or the people it honors. Instead, we are choosing to regroup and plan for an even stronger celebration next year.
Our deepest respect and gratitude go out to all those who have served and continue to serve our country. We remain committed to recognizing and supporting our veterans year-round, and we thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
City of Rohnert Park – Community Services Department

The City of Rohnert Park is proud to announce the Annual Veterans Day Celebration event on November 11, 2025. The ceremony will take place at 11:00 am at the Rohnert Park Community Center, located at 5401 Snyder Lane.
This annual event serves as a tribute to honor the courageous men and women who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. It is a time for the community to unite in gratitude for their sacrifices and reflect on the freedoms we enjoy today.
The event will feature a partial display of the Avenue of the Flags by the American Legion, a heartfelt tribute displaying flags that once draped the caskets of our honored veterans. The program will be MC’d by Mayor Gerard Giudice. Attendees will also hear from a veteran keynote speaker, witness a presentation of colors by the U.S. Coast Guard, and enjoy musical performances by the Rohnert Park Community Band and Rohnert Park Chorale. Additionally, the Girl Scouts will conduct a flag retirement ceremony, honoring our nation's symbols with respect and dignity.
As part of the celebration, we will recognize Rohnert Park residents and their family members who are actively serving in the military through the Military Banner Program, coordinated by Andy Durkee.
This year, you’ll also notice a “Field of Flags”, a special tribute created by a dedicated Expeditionary Learning student from Lawrence Jones Middle School as part of a community service project. This student chose to raise money for Disabled American Veterans (DAV), a nonprofit providing free, life-changing support to those who served. Each flag in the display represents a veteran who has served and sacrificed for our country. The Field of Flags will be on display at the Community Center front lawn from October 29 through Veterans Day, offering a powerful and visual reminder of the bravery and dedication of our service members.
You can support his efforts by sponsoring a flag by scanning the QR code at the Field of Flags starting October 29 or visit: https://support.dav.org/participants/ExLStudents Donations are welcome through November 3 to ensure new flags are placed by Veterans Day.
The event is open to the public, and all community members are encouraged to attend.
