Rohnert Park, CA — November 21, 2025. The City of Rohnert Park has released its Draft 2040 General Plan and Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for public review. This milestone reflects several years of collaboration among community members, City officials, and staff. The City invites public comment on both documents before they are considered for adoption by the City Council in early 2026.

The Draft 2040 General Plan presents the City’s long-term vision and policy framework for key topics including land use, housing, economic development, mobility, environmental justice, and public services. Originally circulated for public review in July 2022, the document has been updated to incorporate community feedback, consultation with the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, new data, and evolving local and regional conditions. The Draft Plan also includes the City’s official Land Use Map, which will guide future zoning decisions, capital investments, development activity, and conservation efforts over the next 15 years.

The Draft Environmental Impact Report, prepared in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), analyzes the potential environmental effects of future growth and development in Rohnert Park. The EIR evaluates topics such as natural resources, transportation, public services, greenhouse gas emissions, air quality, cultural resources, and hazards. Written comments on the Draft EIR will be accepted through January 9, 2026. The Rohnert Park Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 6:00 PM on December 11, 2025, to receive oral comments on the document.

The City anticipates adopting the 2040 General Plan in early 2026. Public hearings before the Planning Commission and City Council will be scheduled following publication of the Final EIR.
